The goal of every session is simple and singular — to acclimate, experience, and continue intimacy with God the Creator. You do not need to arrive with answers. You only need to arrive.
"Hospitality promotes and grows authentic vulnerability. That vulnerability allows for a profound reduction in space and time — which yields a habitable space for realization, reconciliation, and growth."
— The Solace Initiative
All direction is fluid, not rigid — offered at the pace of the directee. Sessions take place in person, at a coffee shop, at SI offices, or wherever you are most at ease.
A relaxed, no-pressure conversation to get acquainted — with each other and with the direction process. We will talk about where you are, what you are carrying, and whether Solace is the right fit for this season of your journey.
Book your consultationThe core Solace direction experience. Weekly or biweekly for an initial 6–8 week engagement, then monthly or every six weeks at your pace. Each session moves through the five intentionals — simplicity, stillness, silence, self care, and spiritual care.
Book individual sessionA facilitated group experience rooted in the Solace framework. Designed for small groups of 4–8 who want to pursue their spiritual journey in community. Groups gather around a table, learn together, and grow within their shared spheres of influence.
Inquire about groupFor those already in the Solace direction process. The annual assessment is a dedicated session to review your spiritual location, revisit your rule of life, assess growth across the five intentionals, and set the trajectory for the coming year.

You will receive a brief intake form and the Spiritual Location Exercise to complete before your first session. These help your director meet you exactly where you are.
There is no right way to arrive. Bring what you have — the questions, the weight, the uncertainty. Hospitality does the rest.
The direction process is fluid, not rigid. Your director will follow your lead on cadence. You are not forcing transformation — you are creating conditions for it.
Do I need to be a Christian to work with a Solace director?
No. The Solace process is rooted in a biblical theology of identity, but the door is open to anyone willing to show up honestly. The direction process will meet you where you are spiritually — no prerequisite, no prior formation required.
What is the difference between spiritual direction and therapy?
Spiritual direction is not therapy. A therapist works to understand and treat mental and emotional conditions. A spiritual director is a companion on your spiritual journey — listening, asking questions, and helping you notice where God is at work in your life. The two can complement each other well, but they are distinct practices.
How long does the direction process take?
There is no fixed timeline. An initial engagement runs 6–8 weeks with more frequent sessions, followed by monthly or every-six-weeks direction at your pace. Annual assessments mark the longer arc of the journey. Some people engage for a season. Others walk with a director for years.
Where do sessions take place?
Wherever you are most at ease — your office, a coffee shop, the Solace Initiative offices, or virtually. Hospitality is not a building. It is a posture. Your director will come to you.
Is this specifically for veterans?
No. The Solace Initiative is open to everyone. Veterans and their families are part of the community, but the core direction process belongs to anyone who wants to move from chaos toward peace — regardless of background, vocation, or season of life.
